The Argosy Foundation emphasizes process in structuring its partnerships. We have a due-diligence approach that looks for the most effective, leveraged means of making charitable investments.
We pursue partners and programs that show special ability to not only add value to a field, but also may contain features or provide learning applicable to other philanthropic endeavors. Our role as a partner is to maximize the likelihood of success, as well as gain knowledge and best practice information that can be made available to others. We believe every program is a learning experience. As a private family foundation, we try to address needs that are less likely to be addressed by governments or public foundations, in a way that may be difficult or impossible for other support/grantor organizations to provide. The Argosy Foundation does not accept unsolicited proposals and may not respond to materials sent without explicit request. While the Foundation does not operate with concrete program categories, there are commonly understood areas to which Argosy currently directs the majority of its support.

Gathering and evaluating information is an essential component of Argosy's decision making process. At the direction of the trustees, staff research and write briefs or more in-depth reports. The briefs and reports are made publicly available, providing additional value to our partner organizations and promoting transparency.
